Found a very interesting website

Beitrag von Frankje »

Hi all,
I stumbled across a very interesting website (in Japanese) with tons of pictures and info concerning various electronic kits, mainly Gakken.
Don't be afraid of clicking the Japanese links, they will lead you to more information.
Here's the link : http://cba.sakura.ne.jp/toyindex.htm
I let Google translate the webpages, nice and easy.
Have fun !

Thanks for the interesting links!
That puzzle/Lego type approach here is another interesting variation.

By the way - how is it with the Chinese and Taiwanese?
They do most electronics assembly today, do they release their own learning kits?

Marc

Well, this block - cube kit still exists ! In a mini version, here you can buy it : http://www.makershed.com/products/gakke ... nchi-block
I bought the original kit many many years ago in the early eighties and I liked the way how circuits are build, no wires needed, the connection wires are included with the components.
The radio circuits are awesome thanks to the reflex circuit.
You can find some info on my website : http://users.telenet.be/synthedmind/kitsGakken.htm
I will post more info soon.
Wouldn't it be great to rebuild this kit ?
With the help of all members on the forum ?
I already have the manual in PDFs.
Greetings

I put the mini kit on my wish list, thanks.

The critical bit to me seems to be the economic production of the plastic cases.

I recently saw 3D printing used for the case of a retro console game module, where it seemed to be good and cheap enough, we are talking a 50-100 EUR module here.

For a similar kit the cost would need to shrink to a couple of cents per case and I think it might take a while until this is in the reach of small number series production.

Marc

Well,

I've just ordered two kits of Mini Gakken Blocks before they run out of production.
I like the way how circuits are made.
I'm curious if I can combine the with my older EX150 kit.
I will let you know when the arrive together with pictures and movies.
It would be nice if someone else would order these kits as well so we can exchange thoughts
