Combi project EE1003 - EE20

Beitrag von Frankje »

Hi all,

For the sake of something new for something old, or vice versa, I constructed a radio project around the EE1916 MW - LW receiver.
The idea was to experiment with the concept of placing this circuit inside the RE1108 reprint in 3D.
So, I’ve spent the whole weekend building it 😮
A few years ago, I made the MW version on a single board, as spotted here : https://youtu.be/iFQp9p2OS88

After building this circuit, I noticed that the reception is poor, compared to the circuit I posted a while ago in the Busch forum.
The reason of this is the use of modern parts and design.

So, the idea is to populate the 3D model with the newer circuit and adding a Bluetooth module.
What do you think folks ?

Here are some pics of the Philips EE20 - EE1003 combi.
I also made plastic covers for the front and mounting board ( this keeps the whole thing neat )

Hi Frankje,

I have just listened on YouTube to the amazing clear sound of your project you did a few years ago. To my surprise I have counted round about 20 Stations you received and the selectivity was absolutely sufficient. Considering the simple design of this receiver the result is really perfect!

The plastic cover of your new project looks great, it makes the front much more precious. But it's a real pity that the reception is now poor.

First idea is great to populate the 3D model with the new circuit but for what do you want to add a bluetooth module?

Best wishes

Hello Sven,
Indeed a few years ago, there were more nearby am stations than nowadays. The reception is still OK but the background noise is higher so that stations far away are faint to listen to.
The new design, which I will post soon, has a fet transistor input, followed by a TA7642 and a LM386 output amplifier. The advantage of this system is that all stations can be clearly tuned and that they all sound equally loud with lesser background noise.
The integrated Bluetooth makes it possible to use your phone or tablet to listen to radio stations wireless.
Greetings
